--- 31 Oct 2007, 1050AM --- I Hate MONTH-ENDS ---
Just my luck to be working on Day-Shift, on the last day of October. Continuous and piles of documents to process, figures to crunch, colors to match and images to compare. Urgent here, Urgent there, Everything also URGENT. *sheesh*
Good thing there's always the PayDay to look forward to when Month-end comes. Can take a break, rite dear? *wink*.

If
you liked the first one, you should like this too. Lets hope the
storyline doesn't suck in this installment. Coming next year,
Valentine's Day.
Yet another Marvel Comic being brought to life on the big screen.
Yep, The Dark Knight returns. I can't wait for this one. Cool Gadgets, Cool vehicles and Cool suit!
Coming this December. Must watch, coz Will Smith is one of my fav actors. hehe... He is a Legend in his own way.

--- 27 Oct 2007, 10PM --- Fatal Accident along TPE ---
I have recently browsed through stomp.com.sg before coming to work and have viewed this article submitted by the member of the public on a fatal accident that happened along CTE, on the wee hours of 27 Oct.
From
what is reported, there is only one vehicle involved, that is a
motorcycle. On it was 2 people, one guy (the motorcyclist) and a lady
(the pillion). It is sad to say the Pillion rider did not make it and
was pronounced dead on the accident scene.
From the pics , you could see that the helmet was thrown off, the body of the deceased is lying near the burning wreckage. The bike was burnt (or mangled) beyond recognition.
For
the Riders Bros and Sis out there... please please Ride Safely. It is
sad to see a life being taken away just like that for a short, cheap
thrill for speed or recklessness. I had just witnessed a minor accident
between a car, motorcyclist and a cargo truck a few days ago which I
stopped to render assistance to the motorcyclist, whom was hurt but was
able to ride again. The motorcyclist was furious about the driver's
(car) way of changing lanes w/o checking his blind spot. The driver (a
NSF kid in his PT kit) was just standing there speechless, trying to
find the words to apologize. In this kind of situation... you really
can't. It already happened. It doesn't matter who's fault is it. By the
time that some realised whose fault it is... it's too late, especially
if someone dies in the process.
That brings to the recent accident. To the riders out there. Please be aware of your actions & consequences. You don't want to put yourself or your family in the middle of some an accident that you were directly involved in. It may be some other vehicle's fault but it is also your responsibility to look out for other road users and the dangers.
Take care of yourself and the ones you pillion. Before you do anything stupid or reckless, think about what are the consequences that you will have to face if something bad should happen. The families, the bills, the regrets... It's just not worth it, man.
To the family of the deceased, may her soul rest in peace. (Inallillah wa inna lillahi raajiuun)

--- 27 Oct 2007, 6AM --- Opening of KPE, Phase1 ---
As of today, (or rather yesterday) the 1st Phase of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) has opened its tunnels to the public. If you still don't know anything about this and YOU OWN A VEHICLE, then I suggest go sell your car/motorbike and take public transport. Haha.. joking lah.. :p
Anyhoo, this Phase 1 of the KPE Tunnel stretches from East Coast Parkway (ECP) to Pan-Island Expressway (PIE). ONLY?? Yeah.. might as well don't open it at all. haha.. But I guess this opening will HOPEFULLY clear up the traffic at the CTE to PIE Slip road (if you are drivers, you should know what I'm talking about).
the blue part is where the tunnel is >>
This new tunnel goes underneath the Kallang River, former Stadium grounds and comes up after the East-West MRT Line, between Kallang and Aljunied Stations before joining PIE (all directions). This tunnel is a part of 2 Phases that will eventually stretch all the way to Sengkang Town and Tampines Expressway (TPE) when fully completed come 2008.
So, as normal Singaporeans, let us be kiasu and check out the new tunnel, ya? Eventhough you know that going through it will just make you go one whole round. Also, lets hope that the CTE will be cleared up a bit (I DID say A BIT) so that I can get to work faster when I'm on night shift.. haha...
Happy Driving!
Tunnels makes me Happy! -AzMean
--- 27 Oct 2007, 1AM --- Portable Apps ---
Like what the title says, "Portable Apps", i.e. Applications that you may bring everywhere you go! That will include all your bookmarks, important passwords, your own application preferences,.. the possibilities are endless. All these without totally relying on any particular Computer, useful especially when you are always on the move. All you need to have this Portable App is your own thumbdrive (512MB and above recommended, remember you need space for your own stuff too).
Introducing PortableApps from.. erm.. www.portableapps.com (where else?). It is a useful application that stores a whole variety of Free Applications (see whole list here) right into your Thumbdrive, PDA, Memory Card, MP3 player or basically anything that connects as a 'removable hard drive' to your computer.
When installed into your removable drive, PortableApps will launch a 'launcher' that will have a list of the installed applications in your Removable Drive. All you need is to click on the app that you need. That's all! PortableApps will also create specialised folders in your Removable Drive, so that your documents or images won't be "lost" deep inside unknown folders.
<< the PortableApps Launcher
I,
myself have use this utility for quite a long time. I don't like using
the built-in Internet Explorer, because I just prefer using FireFox to
surf the web. Firefox is one of the included applications in
PortableApps, so.. yeah.. it just makes things easier for me. There are
also some games included and OpenOffice software, so you can also
edit/view your word docs or spreadsheets on the go. Heck, there is even
a free Anti-Virus App inside!
So now, you don't have to worry about using different computers and hoping that your favourite applications will be there. Armed with your Removable Drive, you can always have access to your favourite applications.
Use it. It's Free, It's Portable.. what's stopping you? Recommended by AzMean himself. There are the "Standard","Lite" and "Base" versions, each with its own list of apps. with the "Standard" being the biggest (90MB).
hehe... (no i'm dun werk for PortableApps). :p ENJOY!

--- 26 Oct 2007, 10PM --- Lame Jokes of the Week ---
There was once a competition involving three gruelling tests. The participants had to do the following in immediate succession:
1) Drink five bottles of hard whiskey in one go
2) Enter a room where there was a starving lion and pluck out its eyes with bare hands.
3) And then screw a very horny babe to her full satisfaction.
Many
people bravely tried their hand at it. Few could get beyond the first
stage. And the inebriated few who managed it, got promptly eaten up by
the starving lion. There was none who could read the third stage.
And
then, one fine day, a nonchalant man walked into the contest. Five
bottles of whiskey were nothing for him. He emptied five bottles in
five gulps. Then he said, “Show me the lion!” When shown the room, he
coolly walked in. There was no hint of fear on his face, but rather the
cool confidence of a person who knew he could do it.
Sounds
of a mammoth fight came from the room. Screams of the man and growls of
the lion were intermingled. Thumps and thuds which shook the very earth
ensued. All of a sudden there was a piercing, heart-rending roar from
the Lion. The audience waited with bated breath, their hair stood on
end. And then, as suddenly as it had begun, the titanic roar stopped.
An eerie silence prevailed.
As
the audience watched, with eyes popping out, the door of the room
opened, and out came the man. Badly bruised, with blood streaming from
his face, hands and legs, he stumbled out - victorious, nevertheless.
His face had the glow of satisfaction of an emperor who had just won a
battle.
And then he asked, “Where is the woman whose eyes I have to pluck out?”
--- 24 Oct 2007, 4AM --- Cool Online Tools: Fauxto ---
I have came across this powerful, flash-based, cool image editing software that everyone can use. YES! EVERYONE! And it's FREE! You just need to Sign up with your valid e-mail address and you can edit your images straight away. NO gimmicks, No catch. Just use it like you are using Photoshop. It is called "Fauxto", by the way.
<< click for bigger image >>
The only thing is that the functions are a bit limited and there are no keyboard shortcuts like undo or copy & paste. But it's useful for me since I do a lot of my updates at work, where the PCs here don't have image editing softwares.
It's useful for those image designers who needs to do a quick edit online if they don't have access to a photo-editing software. All you need is a PC and internet access! Cool huh. You can save your images as .png or .jpg formats. But I found a small glitch (I dunno if its my PC or the Software). Whenever you save a file on your PC, the file will NOT have the extention (.jpg or .png), you will need to rename the filenames to include the appropriate extentions.
Go towww.fauxto.comto sign-up and start to edit your images on the go!
If only everything is free on the net.
--- 23 Oct 2007, 8PM --- "Split-Personalities" ---
With Inspirations from our friendly, neighbourhood MrMalique.com, I did my own "cloning" and did this Split-Personaility Pic. It wasn't dat nicely done since I relied on Putri's hand (thanks dear!) and not the ol' trustry tripod. Also, I set the ISO wrongly. Should have put it at a lower setting. But, it does the job ok, for a first try... Quite eerie, donch ya tink.. imagine having 4 AzMeans as yor fren.. muahahaha.. *evil laugh*.

Superbad
This
movie may look like one of those childish, boring high-school movies,
but I can tell you.. it's not even close. True it features 3 high
school kids who are on the verge of graduating from high-school. But
what's different in this show is that.. the show is more matured.
There's a lot of sex issues being passed around, well actually, that's
one of the main subjects mentioned in this show.
This show revolves around 2 guys + 1 extra geek, with the urge to get "laid" before they start college, so as to have some sort of "experience". Each one already have their eyes on their girls and are waiting for the right time.
The script is brilliant and cleverly written. Even though the movie talk is more about sex, it is also holds a strong message about true friendship and some things are not always meant to be.
It's more of a guy flick but girls may find this movie quite interesting, too. So i suggest, do check this movie out. It's one of the best shows now, other than Resident Evil and it's waaay better than Mr Woodcock.
"an authentic take on the awkwardness of the high school experience"-Rotten Tomatoes which rated the film 87%
Final Verdict: 8/10. Highly entertaining!
---- 20 Oct 2007, 1PM --- Manicure Night ---
Yesterday was a night of Nail Polish, Nail Painting and Cooling-nail polish removers. *ehem*. Its not what you think. Putri wanted to test out a few nail polish colours that were on-sale in John Little. However, her nails were already coloured previously. Soo... my fingernails became her graffiti test area. Colour after colour, my fingers were painted on (not fully though) until she was satisfied with what she was getting.
After
payment, we went to Sasa to get the Nail Polish remover to remove the
paints from my vandalised fingernails. It juz feel a bit weird having
your nails painted.. its like sumting stuck to your teeth. The Polish
Remover has a cooling feeling though. Its like having a fresh face
after you wake up from sleep! hehe..
So, after that, we went to our famous 24-hour shopping mall, i.e. Mustafa Centre to look for more cosmetic products for Putri. We got a few good bargains here and there and I guess she is happy with what she bought.
We went home straight to her home and she suggested that I painter her nails for her. So, being adventurous and artistic I decided to give it a go. It Wasn't easy though! It was quite messy in a way that I over-painted her nails and painted her skin. There are parts which I totally missed out as well. So much for being artistic.
She did the finishing touches by cleaning out the sides of her fingernails and I painted on the top coat for the finishing shine. :) I think it looks ok. Right dear?

Mr. Woodcock
The
show is about John Farley ( Sean William Scott ), a self-help writer
who goes back to his hometown to find his widowed mom dating his PE
Teacher, Mr Woodcock ( Billy Bob Thornton ), who has humiliated and
insulted him school. Seeking revenge, he tries to break up the
relationship but Mr Woodcock seems to be a step in front of John,
always.
I expected more comedy in this movie but it turned out to be quite a boring show. I have to admit that there were a few slapstick comedy here and there.. but not enough for me to laugh it all out. Its rather more worth waiting for its rental than to watch it in the movie. Serious. Unless you got free tix to this show.. then I suggest you wait for the rentals.
The actors, Sean and Billy shown good acting as their individual characters but the show is just too short, too flat and too quiet.
Final Verdict: 3.5/10. Wait for it to show on Ch.5.

Resident Evil: Extinction
It was a more or less a great movie. I have watched the 2 previous installations of this movie (and even played the game!) but i should say the 3rd one is better, eventhough much of the movie takes place in the barren desert.
As
usual, Milla Jovovich kicks ass. The storyline was ok. Not much to ask
for in an action flick. There are a few comical and heart-stopper
scenes.. even the mat (guy) sitting behind me said "siol.. buat aku
teperanjat je" ("shit.. frighten me only..") during one of the scenes
in the Umbrella Corp. Lab. Ella.. ella.. ella.. eh eh.... sorry couldn't help myself.
Anyhoo... Good flick for anyone out there. Couple, guys, gals all will like it the same. But I dunno why they rated it NC-16. Not much gore. just a few zombies getting crushed and birds having "lunch" .
Verdict: 6/10. So-so lah.. entertaining enough for me.
